Vive La Difference!

During the Bastille Day celebrations in the United States, many people reflected on the similarities and differences between France and the United States. History has proven that our similarities far outweigh our differences despite the obvious language barriers which prevent us from communicating as easily with the French as with the British, the Australians, or the New Zealanders with whom we share a common language. One American historian has delved more deeply into our similarities and uncovered a period during which Americans flocked to France to take advantage of French culture, medical advances, and architecture. His name is David McCullough He’s an American author, narrator, historian, and lecturer. He is a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States’ highest civilian award.
